Stickers/Decals...Ceriani/Marzocchi/etc.

Andy, I was thinking that it would be easily doable without much changing. I'll ask him on Monday.
Although there is this on ebay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOTAL-OIL-LAVERDA-1200CC-DECAL-/291358884512?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts_13&hash=item43d657c2a0

Wouldn't bother with the Ebay one.
I assume they would show an image of a good one in their advert but with the mis-registration on the orange
alone it looks like a bit of a lottery.

Posts #3 and #4 above express an opinion :o. Not used him myself. What I did learn, though, while I was getting the Jota 120 label sorted, was that many of these labels with wording along the top are simply conjecture and that genuine labels simply had an engine capacity across the top.
So on that basis the 1200cc one there may be what the original looked like.
Now, I wouldn't treat any as true copies without seeing a photo or possessing an original.

Just to say that I've once again I've had outstanding service from Classic Transfers.  A small, previously unseen, problem was resolved with absolutely no quibbles and a genuine interest in getting things 100% right.  And all in the space of just a few days.  Brilliant.

Unlike Stein Dinse whose customer service has been dreadful.  But I'll leave that for another posting ...

Craig,

Drop me a line if you require bits from Stein-Dinse.  Seems their trade-customer service is far better than that for private retail.  Might even net yourself a little discount as well... :D

I've never had a problem dealing with Stein Dinse as a private retail customer. Their service has always been good and they seem to apply a discount anyway, because the invoice price is always less than the on-line advertised price.

Thanks Piet - appreciated.  It's a story of them supplying a pair of tank badges which are meant to be the same, but aren't .. and when I point this out (very politely, of course ...  :)) being asked, "Well, perhaps you could just modify one to look like the other?"

"Well, no, I can't!" (and in truth, I can't: they're too different.  Even the colour's different).  "I'd like what you show for sale on your website, please!"

I'm still waiting for a reply from a guy called Oliver Gebhardt (message sent on 27 March), so I'll see how that works out first ... But Hopes Are Not High!

Ciao

Does everyone have experience with them?

I have bought parts from Giovanni on numerous occasions. The quality of the parts is always superb as is his service. ( I have no connection other than buying off him from time to time. )

I too have bought a few bits from mr Giovanni, as you say the quality is always very high (as is the price). But you pays yer money you takes yer choice don't you.
I did have one of his stickers, which again was superb quality but it seems incorrect in detail. But thanks to Mr Puxley I have a much better example which is correct.

Less VAT ?

I've just ordered the black Montjuic sidepanel transfers from Classic Transfers so once they've arrived I'll report back on quality. From the sound of it they'll be good which is an improvement on some of the crap I've seen offered up.

Because I'm famous for being crap with transfers I've ordered 2 spares and at a fiver each it's not a worry if they just go in an envelope and stay there unused.

Probably, Davo.

VAT does not apply to wares leaving the EU and is therefore deducted.  But it is up to the buyers discretion to declare customs at the time of import... ::)

Probably no great deal in most countries, especially if VAT is not applicable anyway.  It is in most of Europe though!

No tax (GST) applied to purchases under AUD$1000 when imported into Oz - at this time. It will change if the whinging bastard major robbers retailers have tgeir way.

Gio sent me some decals for an SB2 that were too old and couldn't be used. I contacted him and he said he would contact his Italian supplier and nothing came of it. I won't use them again.

Cam,
when did you start ordering parts from SD? back in the pre Euro days they had a minimum 50 Deutsch Mark order policy and wouldn't budge. They also had horrific s+h charges and would sting you twice for the full s+h charges if an order was mailed out in more than one shipment because an item wasn't in stock at the time the first shipment went out. And if they mailed the wrong part I won't even mention all the hassle and fuss they put up to get things straight, often not resolving the issue. I often wonder if a disgruntled customer had something to do with the fire that burned down their old location ::)

I think I first used Stein Dinse about 3 years ago when I was fixing up a friend's Guzzi T3. I ordered a bunch of parts from them because they were cheaper than MG Cycle in USA.

I've had several orders with them since. Always been fast delivery with reasonable freight charges. On the few occasions when I've asked for additional tech info, their Mandy Heiber has always responded quickly.

I've never had a split order with doubled-up delivery charges. Probably because I never order parts (from anybody) that aren't listed as in stock at the time of ordering. Having parts on back-order is a pain in the arse. If one supplier doesn't have stock, you can usually find what you want from someone else.

Which is exactly my gripe with Stein Dinse right now.  Briefly:

I ordered a pair of Ducrappi badges off their website.  When the badges arrive, they didn't match: one is plastic, one is aluminium.  One is white, one is off-white.  One has screw holes for fixing, one has mounting pins on the back.  One has a raised border on the back, one is flat on the back.

So I send them a photo of the 2 badges (see below) and a description of what's wrong, and I get back this message back:
"Sorry for the instant (sic) with the different badges.  Of course we can do an exchange, but I can?t promise you which version we will get and the delay is uncertain.

Is it perhaps possible for you, to do the small modifications by yourself?  As I see it should be done by drilling two small holes and removing the pins on the backside."

Errr ... no, I'm not going to 'bodge up' a badge.  I want what I ordered, please!  And since that last message, no reply.

I don't think I'm being unreasonable, or am I?

Craig
