Is the orange on the Formula the same as that on the Montjuic? Same as the Jota and all the rest of the orange Laverdas? I think so but I'm not sure about the color of the Formulas gel coat. Anyone have the paint code?

Thanks a lot,

Ed

There is no RAL paint code for SFC orange, but RAL 2004, although it?s darker, comes closest. However, the gel coats did differ. By the time the Formulas were built, in 1978, the orange gel coat was quite a bit darker, could well be that it was nearer to RAL 2008. The Montjuic may not have had same shade of orange,  because its fibre glass parts were made in UK. Thought the orange used for the Monty was closer to the 1980 Jota, which was nearer to RAL 2004 again.

Hi

Du Pont confirmed the color codes for Laverda Orange. First, Laverda Orange is classified as being RAL 2008 by the European color regulation authorities. RAL 2008 is classified as Formula Standard 429254 or 429253 by Du Pont. It seems that both formulas achieve the same result.

The final colour can vary depending on how it is sprayed and what base coat colour was used.

When parked next to each other I can see no difference at all in the color of my MkI Monty and my '81 Jota.
