I'm currently reassembling Shaun (Lemonjelly's) RGA Sprint.
Recently collected the frame etc. from the powdercoaters. Shaun wanted the fork yokes blasted, not coated, which they've done. However, in the process, they've removed the stem from the bottom yoke. Whilst I knew this was how they were manufactured, I've never actually seen them apart.
So - the problem I'm now faced with is how to put it back together? I've cleaned up both surfaces with emery tape, then had the stem in the freezer and applied some heat to the yoke.
But they're nowhere near. Even applying some gentle 'persuasion' leaves the stem 15-20mm proud of where it should be.
The stem is now back in the freezer and I've got the yoke warming up indoors.
Is this going to need a mechanical press to get it back together?
Suggestions please!
