Circumnavigation of Oz

From memory my SF2 now gets close to 250km before reserve, and I have done 40km on reserve (sweating it) before making a garage. It has my pensioned 10.5:1 race pistons and std Dells.
I remember our customers with Ā“81 Jotas all reporting that they got far better fuel economy riding at 120 to 150 than they did if forced to sit on 100, on those motors 130 or so is probably 1/8 throttle.
Cooo.
I'm on reserve at 230 on my SF2 on normal roads with plenty of gear changes and throttle blipping.

Pwww, not a patch on Upper Queenstown Tassie. That temp and pissing rain and wind with deep Snow on the roadside. THAT was a gear test.

Blimey, that's organised. It'll be interesting to see if you stick to the plan. I presume you'll be keeping us updated as you go.

When I went around Australia, I had no plan at all - just pointed the bike in the general direction and headed off. Overnight stops were figured out along the way. Mostly camping in the middle of nowhere. Occasional caravan park or hotel stops to do laundry etc.

I agree, Cam. I'd be surprised if you stick to some of those (relatively) short days where you are basically travelling across empty plains. If you start at 7am you'd have done 650km by 1 o'clock! Unless you want to hang around a local watering hole (ie pub) or roadhouse. I'd be opting for more time in the more interesting spots and covering a lot more ground on the 'transition' stages. Just my two centavos worth. (BTW, where is Hidden Valley fitting in?). You could probably travel south to Katherine with Brett, if he does the big ride up again?
