The grand finale BEARS 2019 Broadford
« on: November 05, 2019, 09:19 »
Well folks its on the final round for BEARS this year at Broadford this weekend
So whilst most of the NSW crew will be wending their way to meet the ferry for the crossing into Tassie ( via the coast road hmmm ) Marty what were you thinking planning it on such a major Laverda weekend,  I will be heading down to Broadford for what will be a cracking race meet.
TC numbero uno as I understand it will also be heading down over the weekend along with one or two other NSW guys. And TC numbero due will also be there later in the weekend after going some of the way with the Showy trip guys... and he will ride back with yours truely

I was lucky enough to be at the last practice day prior to this meet for the Mule and I must say it twas on song indeed, now as Smarty is leading the championship by a slim margin all he needs to bring it home is finish in front of those pesky Triumph's.

Lucky for us we have another couple of Lav's there for support Maurice will be making his only appearance for the year...
So its only one job for you Maurice and Black Betty, finish in front of the Triumph's, no pressure at all as its your home track and I reckon we have it running fine.. just dont go overtaking Smarty will you  :P.

Ian and Monty had so much fun with the BEARS boys that Monty is making a guest appearance also :-) Now lets see if he can give Lisa a run for her money on Monty as I reckon Broadford will well suit the mighty Monty

Rumour has it that if things are looking a bit tight in the championship then we might need to pull out our trump card .... and have Bevelman make a comeback for the day to put the proverbial amongst the Triumph's.

Its gunna be an Orange weekend for sure  :P Sunday arvo presentations should be a must for all to attend

Good luck folks, hope it goes better for you than it did in my last race meeting of the season! :(
An ‘inzane’ number of Zanes (all of which could run)
7 from Breganze (all of which can run)
Several other project bikes
1 x BMW C600 Sport Highline maxi scooter (for comfort and reliability)
1 x Benelli Tre Tornado 900 (cos it should have been the ‘new’ Jota)

I just need to work out which day I come up, or maybe I can make the trek both days. Going to be some excellent racing 'up the road' from me this weekend! Unfortunately the SFQ won't be the steed of choice - it's either car with a mate or the purple whizz (ZZR250) ... again!

Safe trip guys. Look fwd to catching up.

Why not take a sleeping bag and stay the night?

So that he can work on the SFQ in his lean-to in the night time, Cam  ;D
Best of luck (and speed to the participants) both on and off the track, it sounds like the books are cooked for a great time all round. Wish I was there.

You should be able to find a place in the house, give Serge a call.
Here's his latest:
For those staying overnight at Broadford next weekend to watch the Redax bikes and Maurice Turner compete in the last round of the National BEARS title, the details we have planned are as follows:
- We have ten people staying Friday and Saturday night.
- The nightly accommodation fee is $30 per head.
- You’ll need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow. Anyone wanting them, or
any other gear taken up, please leave them at Serge or Dave’s place
before Thursday night.
- There will be a BBQ meal provided on the Friday night, complete with
nibbles and salads.
- We’ll be providing egg and bacon rolls for breakfast on both mornings.
- Someone will do a beer run into town on Friday to buy whatever drinks
are wanted by each person staying.
- On Saturday night, we’ll probably go into Broadford for a counter meal
at a pub.
- We’ll be heading home on Sunday afternoon, although anyone wanting
to go to the Festival of Italian Motorcycles display in Preston will need to leave Sunday morning.
Let us know if you have any other needs, otherwise, see you there.

Sorry Quentin, I just got informed the accom is maxxed out now.
The BBQ was originally suggested for Saturday night but was moved to Friday night at the request of the Redax team.

No drama, Greg. I exchanged emails with Serge and let him know I wouldn't be able to do an overniter. Coming up either day or if I get lucky, both.

Festival of Italian Motorcycles in my home suburb and I didn't even know about it! might have to check it out before heading up.

Beaut Quentin! It will be an even bigger big weekend if Andrew can bring it home in front and put another Championship on the history books for Laverda.
DAM Classic Racing sponsors both the Victorian Road Race/BEARS Championship and the Festival Of Italian Motorcycles so I need be in Preston on Sunday.

The FOIM is usually a big weekend for Laverda owners but this year it is great to see the Vic Lav Club going all-out to show support for the Redax Team.
It's a pity Gary (Red) Cawte has got his nickers in a knot and is sulking in the corner refusing to come if I'm there. Him putting that ultimatum to the Vic Club is petty, especially after all the effort the lads have gone to moving the BBQ to a workday evening for him, taking the afternoon off work and getting out of the city on a Friday is a nightmare. Hopefully the rest of the Redax Team and QLDs can rise above this and come along on Friday night regardless.

Wow another thread hijacked and turned into a Dam advert, how surprising ::)

As said before your disagreement with Red is a private mater and not for this forum.
Most of that will polish out...
