2nd gear come around pretty quick eh Padders. My Motodd spins up so quick it's like having a close ratio box. I'm running a 40 tooth rear. My Motodd weights 200kg, oils but no fuel.

Ok. 800 miles in and iím Completely smitten. What a fucking outrageous, visceral, involving, vibrating, intoxicating, awesome machine it is. Its by no means perfect yet but by god its not far from it. Clutch dragging issues now sorted. The gearbox is getting sweeter with each passing mile and is slick enough for beautifully smooth cluthless changes from 2nd to 5th gear. I can even get neutral at a standstill now. Speedo still doesnít work so no idea how fast it is yet and still havenít attempted to take it all the way as it feels a little like it may need a steering damper as the front gets a little flighty when pressing on but that might be the ten year old tyres and unsorted suspension. The two latter things have to wait till i have a bit of money spare. Its difficult to estimate the mpg without a working speedo but iím fairly certain its doing 50 plus mpg. I canít wait to try someoneís standard bike to compare the difference between them. The biggest problem i have with it is trying to keep it clean, every time i go to clean it i take it for a ride instead so now its quite grubby which strangely i quite like.
Unfortunately i have to have an op on my shoulder in December which will keep me off bikes for three months so it wont go up to keithís to go on the dyno till end of February next year. Never mind, five more weekends to enjoy it till as long as the rain doesnít come down too much. Flip side amigos.

Ps, has anyone fitted a steering damper to their bike?

First failure has occurred after just over 1000 miles. The seat unit has fractured. I did wonder if it would do but i had run out of time and money to do anything about it. Its no great shakes as salt is now on the roads and iím In hospital soon so cant ride for 3months anyway. More than enough time to get it fixed and strengthened  before i can ride again. To say Iíve throughly enjoyed my Laverda would be a massive understatement, however....after next summer it will come apart for some modifications to make it even better. Flip side mofoís.

Mate, we have enjoyed your journey as well, now you have time to consider the next round of improvements to make. There never really finish.

Me too Padders.

Thanks for well wishes. Op got cancelled at the last minute and now going ahead tomorrow. Iíve prepped FBB for the next 6 weeks after which iím Hopping the doctors are completely wrong and i can get back on the road. A quick note as to how much i love my laverda. Despite some things to sort out i haveínt ridden my fazer once for pleasure since the Laverda has been running and i no longer miss my R1 ( which i had to sell to get FBB running ) Got some new tyres to go on and an appointment in the new year with a suspension specialist an a date with keith for a dyno set up. Lots of miles planned for next year!

Bloody hard getting shunted when you are mentally prepared for it. Best of luck. Great motivation that Laverda!

The same thing happened to my Uncle last year week before Xmass, it was bloody obvious it wouldn't happen that close to the holiday.
