Typically I would but its a bit odd, it doesn't like compressing at all. It's going to take up half a pannier. I will probably add a small bag on the rack to take any overflow, I learned years ago not to fill every square mm of luggage as you will need some spare sooner than you think.

You can get those semi-vacuum plastic bags that you roll clothes tight up in and they stay small. We used them for woollens etc on our recent Nepal trek, worked a treat, much less volume.

Looks like I won't be packing the winter liner, I will be wearing it. Seems according to tonights  ABC news low-level snow is predicted in Tassie.

Hey Vince if you go to Mac Pac or Kathmandu they sell those thin puffy jackets, down jackets for the uninitiated, really warm and fit inside your bike jacket and then when not in use pack up into a tinny weeny stuff bag.
I use them all the time.
mmmmm pufffff, so warm  :D :D
A leftover addiction from my Kathmandu days, ;)
Most of that will polish out...

Hi Tom, I was a long term skier so have plenty of good gear. I will probably add a set of thermals as they take minimal space. I have a couple of really thin Merino fleeces I bought from Aldi that work really well. I brought a new pair of Gortex gloves a few weeks back as my old ones had died. Love the Gotex but the cost was NUTS. I better get a good 10 years out of them.

Didn't you guys head for the ferry via Broady last year? And I led you the (almost!) right way via backish roads to the fwy?

How can you be heading south and miss the orange fest down here!
What ... leave it standard??!!

I just follow orders, we arrived last year after the racing but it was great to meet up for a chat. Going to be odd not having the fixer along as well. Having you locals guide us to the ferry helped a lot, I don't remember all those expressways from previous GP trips in the past. Is that a tautology? Probably like Sydney a new one opens every few months.

Keep an eye on this website. It gives a 14 day forecast. http://www.myweather2.com/City-Town/Australia/Tasmania/Hobart/14-Day-Forecast.aspx

Doesn't look too bad for the time you're in Tassie. Temperatures a bit on the cool side (mostly below 20C) and a chance of rain here and there, but nothing too alarming.

There's a thunderstorm forecast on the evening (around 7pm) Tuesday 12th, but you should be propping up the bar in the Empire Hotel in Queenstown at that time of day.

Didn't realise you guys missed the racing last year. Guess it makes sense if you're riding south much of the day.

Good thing you guys aren't in Tassie this week. Weather is shit. Apparently we're being affected by something called an Antarctic Vortex.

That's what I got from the ABC news 2 nights back, snow to 500ms.
We spend the day last time at Cradle Mountain sitting in a 5-star resort beside there fire in dripping bike gear having a lovely time eating and drinking their top-shelf stuff. Hope we get to see it better this time.BTW it was a surprise we were happily allowed in and got fantastic service everywhere. Same at Lake Pedder. Its a great place for a bike holiday.
