Congratulations! Post # 3600

Rather appropriate 3600th, nothing to do with Laverda

Work, rain and holidays getting in the way of Laverda action at the moment.

Have wasted time this week not moving the seat project forward but will see if I can get things back on track Friday. Depends whether they can get the seat unit back to me by the Snowy run.

Pro-Bolt confirmed they have my new fairing screen screws so I will have to start on getting the screen fitted up shortly.

Not sure what to do about front indicators but will have to improvise for now.

Fitted up the fairing mounts today and itís be fair to say itís a tiny bit twisted, probably from one of the various offs at the track. Not really bothered about that, itís more the fact that I had to drop the handlebars so they donít interfere with the fairing thatís worrying me, they seem low.

This is the very reason I had to abandon the SFC fairing I bought, Carlo - I just don't want clipons below the top clamp on a road bike (and remember that SFs have a much lower top clamp height and shorter forks than a triple). Sure, they look real hot, but just not ergonomically suitable for the sort of all-round sports riding I want to do. The cutout on the SFC number is really small. I'm really happy with the ZXR250R top section on the SFQ as it is sporty, suits the shape of the tank and general look, but has a large high cutout so I can run my clipons above the top clamp. Feels really nice when I sit on it in the workshop!!

It's a tricky balancing act getting good aerodynamics and handlebar pos - I'm hoping I got mine close!!
What ... leave it standard??!!

My headlight blinkers and instruments are mounted on the fairing mount, that takes a lot of weight off the steering but getting the bars high enough for comfort plus a comfortable wrist angle and still miss all this plus long enough to hold the heated grip controller isn't an easy trick.Plus those adjustable height and angle clipons are bloody expensive and hard to find in 38mm. I have a set form Gowanlocks that are 75mm higher than standard on my Pantah, I think they do 3 hights std middle and high and each one has some ability to go up or down from that plus change angle

My clipons have always been below the top clamp but they have 1.5Ē risers.
I split the change between moving the clamps and the clipons. My forks were 25mm up through the clamps so I sacrificed 10mm there and then the rest at the bars. So actually the bars feel good, a bit more thrown forward but not significantly. I willl jack up the rear a bit to get the geometry back a little, although maybe not the full 10mm.

The drama fairing has more room for higher bars.
Cheers from sunny Sydney

Should be a weapon with that sort of quick steering, I might try it and see how it goes, will report back soon...

Courtesy of Pro-Bolt screen in place, now just need a break in the weather! Plenty of extra holes for aerodynamic pressure equalisation
