New rear tyre fitted, swingarm pivot greased; chain removed, cleaned and refitted; wheels string aligned, rear brake bled. The pre-rally preps continue. Like to do my maintenance at home, not at the side of the road ::)

Gear shifter adjusted, new neutral switch fitted and adjusted as longer than the original and prevented gear shifts, new shifter cover gasket from Red fitted, oil in. Up and down the road a few times, now shifts through all gears smoothly with no false neutrals. Only prob now is front end chatter under brakes - methinks the headstock could do with a bit of tightening, and then off to the coppers for inspection and hopefully rego.

Nothing to the bike itself today but I did find this when tidying up my desk, from my daughter a few years ago.... maybe it should go in the calendar for April? Whatever I'm supposed to be doing it doesn't look like it will end well!!

Bit of a load for a 500! Still on my bucket list but it's getting closer :-)

The 500 didn't seem to have too much trouble with it, as long as its revved enough.

I think the Reliant of my friend Johan de Haas had more trouble getting up there.
But he got applause when he made it.

I installed the main light LED 2000 lm. (12W low / 18W hi.). All lighting is LED.

Now, the light of highway consumes less than the position light, idling is charging a battery (12,80v-13,20v). with the original alternator.

Ignitech and LED bulbs have solved my battery charging problems.

Greetings.

Went for a ride, Lovely.
Noticed that the cam cover gasket is leaking, Blimey.
Well, new one has been ordered.

Question: How thick should the gasket be? The one I have is about 1,5 mm and the groove on the cover is only couple of tenths of millimeters less deep.

1.5mm should be ok.
One of mine had a leak because the rubber seal was (from memory) 1.2mm thick. Pretty sure the replacement was 1.8mm thick.
