When I was cleaning to disgusting shit around the countershaft sprocket during its replacement, where does all that crap come from, I also found a half a golf ball slug of grease up behind the frame plate near the end of the swingarm where excess swingarm grease gets pumped out. That's with no nuts on the swingarm undone. I am a pretty obsessive bike washer but that grease had been missed for a long time. By that, I mean near the swingarm, not up around the countershaft

Do you find it cam actually go in if you don't release the swingarm pivt bolt to allow the exiting grease/air somewhere to go?

Yes.

I use three greases
normal HMP grease (pretty much everything)
white grease (brake components and locks etc.)
copper grease (anything that might seize)

do I really need marine grease, good job we have a supplier half way between me and Nicko! hey there's a pub opposite, we could meet up and get a bulk buy of two pots!

Ok, I have googled this so not only am I initiated, I am the go to expert! Turns out it aint good in high temp applications as designed for lower temp marine environment...so all you guys had better wash it out immediately(oh oh its waterproof so you can't 😂).

Nick, you are in the UK - hardly a high temperature environment as I remember it from when I lived there up until the age of 12, although climate change may have changed all that.  I think it will be fine.  I actually use Lanolin grease a fair bit, given its wide application.  Smells a bit like a sheep, often used as hair grease in NZ when going out on a date. Something about pheromones I think...

Well, I myself am passionate about lamb, Nick.  I blame the one year that I spent in an English Public School before emigrating to greener pastures myself..
