Planning to be in Breganze June 15
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:17 »
I am going to the "old country" in June and plan to be in Venice on June 14, 15, 16. Looking forward to journeying out to Breganze on Friday the 15 and take in the sights. Was wondering if there is a way to check if Ricardo Oro's museum/factory will be open, hate to get there and find it closed!
Can only find a telephone number for him on the net.

Any ideas appreciated.

Chris..

Jeez Batto you sound like a trained investigator!

Seriously though, Ricardo has excellent English so give him a call.

Hi,
I was there two years ago. The only Laverda at the market place and it was July, so also Ricardo was in vacation. :-( . Don't think that anybody takes care that you are in Braganze with a Laverda. Today they loves their BMW's and Monsters- but it's a nice area, Bassano, the Alps... you will enjoy the places- also Padua, Noale(Aprilia) and Venice is not far.

"Don't think that anybody takes care that you are in Braganze with a Laverda".

I cannot imagine that, because the reverse has happened to me on many occasions, both with and without a Laverda. I have lost count of how many times I have been there over the last 43 years, but it (for me) it has always been a great experience. I have even kissed and cuddled the mayor in her full regalia and her husband has a 70's Lav 750 and is a very fit and large bloke!

By the way the town name is spelt BREGANZE

You are right, Breganze- just a typo ;-).

And I would go there any time again with my Laverda- if they take notice of her or not.

Andre's got a point though, go to Breganze outside of a Lav meeting and (other than Ricardo's shop, now well out of town) you'll see little or no evidence of a Laverda history.  I've often felt somewhat sad after a visit there, as the town just seems to have moved on.  Admittedly all my visits have either been in a hire car or on my Bimota, so I've never parked my foreign-plated Laverda in the town square, and I've not been since 2009.  It's a charming and lovely place for sure, and well worth visiting, but a Laverda epiphany is not an automatic experience there.

My sole visit to Mandello was somewhat different.  The factory is still operating, Guzzis were a regular sight riding around the town, several Guzzi related shops operating.  My visit there generated quite a good vibe and I reflected with some melancholy that it was more like what visiting Breganze must have been like in the 70's and 80's.

maybe you are correct Steve, I have very fond memories from the 70's, and the 80's and also the 90's with 75, 91, 97 and 2000 being the very best of the best, the 60th was also good was it 2009 ? since then the visits have been less frequent and only on organised events
but a few years ago when arriving early for Ricardos rally, I literally "bumped" into Fernando Capellotto (2milion kilometre man), having known him for more than 20 years and not being able to communicate (except via others) because he has no English and I have almost no Italian, I apologised in French (wrong country was on auto pilot) and discovered that he does French! the next 45 minutes or so were just perfect. Hope it happens again in July or should I say Juillet, still wrong try Luglio

I make a point of visiting the town when I'm close by, meeting or not.  An espresso in the Cafe Central has become a bit of a ritual.  Parking a Lav on the town square usually gets you chatting with one or more of the locals, they're still ernormously proud of "their" marque!

With a bit of luck, I'll be able to dash down in July for the weekend.
